SONDRA LONDON
Sondra London's grandmother was celebrated for her oil paintings of rustic landscapes; one aunt did art deco paintings, while another hand-built her house from granite rock, fitted it with stained-glass windows, and fixed it up with hand-painted decor, complete with homemade wine. Sondra's sister was an award-winning photographer. With a BA in Literature, Sondra has explored a wide range of arts. Songs & poems came first. Starting with singing with a Latin band in 4th grade and performing Shakespeare in high school, by the 1970s, she was writing reggae songs and singing with an Afro-Caribbean band. Meanwhile, her paralegal skills led to technical writing. Before the internet, as soon as desktop publishing appeared in the mid-1980s, Sondra was teaching it, while writing and illustrating information to hi-tech clients from scratch: manuals, proposals, reports, marketing pieces and books. In the 1990s, she turned her hand to writing true-crime books, helping authorities close 16 homicides to date by using creative writing, music and artwork to gain the cooperation of prisoners. Though Sondra had been doing electronic artwork prior to the release of Photoshop, it was 2021 before she started learning the wet-on-wet oil painting technique used by Bob Ross. Designing decor and apparel has been an interest ever since print-fabric-on-demand technologies emerged. So inevitably, all these influences led to the release of this line of throw pillows featuring Sondra London's oil paintings of rustic landscapes.
