York is a former interior designer who opened his first art gallery in 1990 and began painting the following year. His works have sold here and abroad and can be found in the collections of Belmont University, Tom Collins Music, First Baptist Church, Renasant Bank, and The Nashville City Club, as well as celebrities Vince Gill, Keb’ Mo’, Kelly Clarkson, and others.

York is also an accomplished musician with eight CDs of original compositions. 

In 2017, York released his first book, a memoir based on a family secret. The following year, he released his memoir, followed by eight novels. (All of which have won at least one award)

York, now retired, enjoys time in his studio and garden as well as being home with his cat, a calico rescue named Miss Trixie Delight.
