Michelle Murakami

A Fairview native, Michelle has been working as a graphic designer her entire adult life, but has only recently made her way back into the fine art realm. In school she studied fine art under the instruction of Peggy Pendergrass and Gerre Colton. More recently, she has studied watercolor under Gail McDaniel and Peggy Pendergrass, acrylics under Faye Baldwin and oil painting under Jackie Mickler and Rachael McCampbell. “My interest in art has always been alive, but as it often does, life’s busy-ness gets in the way of pursuing it in any meaningful way. It wasn’t until Jill Turpin got the Fairview Arts Council going that I even considered that I could begin to ignite my love of making art once again.”

Michelle received the Mayor’s Choice award at the 2022 Dickson Paint the Town plein air painting event for her acrylic, “View of Main Street”.
