Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Julie is the artist and creative heart behind Shells + Salt.
When her daughter left for college at Florida State University, family visits to Florida led to frequent trips to beautiful St. George Island. It was there that Julie discovered a love for shelling and an appreciation for the natural beauty and individuality of each shell.
What began as collecting coastal treasures soon blossomed into a creative passion for transforming oyster shells into handcrafted ornaments and decorative pieces, each thoughtfully designed and finished by hand.
Married for 27 years and embracing a new chapter as an empty nester, Julie finds joy in creating pieces that celebrate beauty, tradition, and the simple pleasures of life.
Inspired by her Christian faith, the name Shells + Salt is a gentle nod to the biblical calling to be “the salt of the earth,” with the cross in her logo reflecting the faith that inspires her creativity.
Through Shells + Salt, Julie hopes to share her love of coastal beauty with others, creating meaningful pieces that bring joy, inspiration, and a touch of Southern charm into their homes.
