VINTAGE PRINT FROM National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London - "BRITISH BARQUE GEELONG T BOWMAN COMMANDR"

A portrait of the three-masted barque ‘Geelong’ which was built on the Clyde in 1847. The ship is shown in full sail, broadside on, flying a blue burgee from the mainmast on which is written her name. The ship is shown off the coast of Hong Kong with settlements visible in the background. There is a British paddle steamer behind its bow and British frigates can be seen at anchor on the right. Two figures lean over the side to take soundings. The inscription reads ‘ British Barque Geelong T Bowman Commandr’.
